Documentary focusing on food loss "0 yen kitchen"

Screening started on Shibuya Uplink from January 21st (Sat) on 2017, the documentary '0 yen kitchen' focusing on the problem of food loss.

Eating and drinking establishments, supermarkets, and even general households, large amounts of food are thrown away every day. In fact, one third of the food produced in the world seems to be disposed of without being edible. It weighs 1.3 billion tons each year. Journalist Darvid who witnessed such social problems asked, "How can we rescue the food that is thrown away and turn it into a delicious dish?", Riding in a waste oil car equipped with a kitchen that was remodeled by himself , Traveling around the five European countries.

In each country I visit, I meet people who do not waste food with a unique approach and learn various ideas. While it is a serious problem, it can be said that it is a pleasant and tasty entertainment road movie that follows positively the way to tackle a new challenge.

In Germany we visit organic farmers and learn about the fact that one-third of the harvested products are sold out of the standard vegetables. In Belgium, food dishes prepared in a guerilla manner at the cafeteria of the European Parliament, appealing to the members of the disposal of food. Currently, the world population surpasses 7 billion people and is expected to reach around 9 billion people by 2050. While there are people suffering from the food crisis in Africa and elsewhere, a large amount of food waste is regarded as a food loss in industrialized countries. Through this work, we are going to have to rethink our current lives and think about thinking about the future of food.
