More fun Shibuya! People who work, learn people, play information site for people

Aiming for such a natural future that legitimate consideration is paid to "artists with intellectual disabilities."

"100 BANCH" (Hyakubanchi) opened in JR Shibuya station New South Exit area in July 2017 is the center of open innovation aimed to "support 100 projects to create a future 100 years ahead". As Panasonic celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2018, the concept of Loftwork Co., Ltd., a cafe company, which is a company in Shibuya, mainly focuses on Panasonic, has started.

The 2nd floor is a workspace "GARAGE (garage)" where the project team selected by public offering has moved and performs various activities.

Together with the young generation who will be in the future era, we will work on the creation of new value leading to the next 100 years. It is an initiative that top runners in each field support and support activities through mentoring opportunities for young people 's "diverse projects" with values not bound by common sense. Shibuya Culture Project will introduce one of the unique projects that will participate in the experiment area, which will be produced by many new ideas and technologies from Shibuya.

For the second time this time, we asked Mr. Takaya Matsuda (Masuda Takaya), MUKU representative. Matsuda, who is involved in the commercialization of "works drawn by artists with intellectual disabilities", will widely convey the charm of creative activities of artists with intellectual disabilities, and they will be able to pay legitimate consideration We are continuing our activities day by day with the aim of becoming a society. What kind of Matsuda san are trying to create a new place in Shibuya?

Takaya Matsuda (MUKU representative) / born May 8, 1991, born in Iwate Prefecture, twin brother, 26 years old. Graduated from Tohoku University of Art and Design, Department of Planning and Design. During college, he belonged to the seminar of Kumamon Kozumi who is the creator of Kumamon, he begged as "I want to join!" And joined Orange & Partners, a planning company that Kaorudo serves as president. Currently he works as a planner in charge of planning and producing.

-MUKU's Forefront "Form of Welfare"
MUKU is a project that puts artworks drawn by artists with intellectual disabilities into products and propose them to society. We aim to propose new value to society by thoroughly branding their creativity with intense identity. A year and a half passed since the inauguration and participated in numerous projects including Roppongi Art Night and exhibitions at the National Art Center, participating in the exhibition of ITOCHU Aoyama Art Square, participation in FashionRevolution, fair of Daikanyama Tsuya bookstore . By continuing to present products (goods) that jumped out from the category of so-called "welfare" "charity", the aim is to be widely recognized as the charm and power of creative activities of people with intellectual disabilities.

| Meeting with "Rinbibi art museum" was a turning point in life.

_ Please tell me why you thought about starting a project focusing on 'artists belonging to welfare institutions', their motivation and thoughts.
MUKU is currently a project to promote with 5 members. I and my deputy representative's older brother are monozygous twins, but my older brother has an older brother and my older brother has a congenital intellectual disability called autism. Since our mother was a person participating in various activities in the area of "welfare", inevitably our brothers also had days to participate in activities of welfare institutions, schools for disabled children, NPO organizations etc. from a young age I was sending it. From such a thing, I wanted to live in the welfare industry one day naturally.

Such a mother told me this winter in the second year of a society person.

"Do you know the Rinbabi Art Museum?"
▲ "Rinbabi Art Museum" (Iwate · Hanamaki City). Mr. Fumito Matsuda deputy representative of the twins on the left. ▲ Scenery of production.
"Rinbabi Art Museum" in Iwate · Hanamaki City is a welfare facility promoting art activities managed by Social Welfare Corporation Hikari forest. So, I saw their creative expression for the first time, but it became a branch point of my life.

It is said that it becomes a pillar that supports the vivid charm of a work when "commitment" and "threatening concentration ability" which are features of disability such as autism and Down Syndrome are demonstrated in expression of art. And it was also a moment when I realized that I would like to present artworks with intense identity projected to society using advertising techniques while understanding that it is a view of the world that only they can draw.

_ Why did you decide to work in Shibuya's "100 BANCH"? If there is a chance, please do.
When the year passed since the inauguration, the new member's new values have been introduced and boosted. Will it really make a good impact on society to make art works product and presentation continuously? Have you become an agent for welfare facilities and manufacturing sites? While the area of my interest is widely spreading as "Produce service development and event management" in the welfare umbrella, such a strange thing started to emerge. So I thought that I could use it as a media "official place called" 100 BANCH "," from brand to project ", to make our activities sublimate one step further.

| Notice the difference between yourself and others's point of view in "Town and Irodori workshop".

Mr. Matsuda who develop numerous projects including book covers with tie, "Umbrella with Komiya shop" and "GRANESS Tokyo", a long-established gentleman's shop "Ginza Taya", but from now on 100 BANCH Please tell me the project you are moving forward.
We collaborated with "art work depicted by intellectually disabled artists" and "craftsmen from Made in Japan", and we have kept a high quality product thoroughly. I will continue to change my mind from now on, I will continue with that idea.
▲ Inside the shop of a long-established gentleman's shop "Ginza Taya". ▲ Necktie collaborated with artists with disabilities with Ginza Taya.
Particularly I want to emphasize this from now on is "town and color workshop" promoted with 100 BANCH. Through artists belonging to the facility and colors falling in the city, it is an event that notices the difference between one's viewpoint and another's viewpoint.
▲ 4/29 (Sunday) "Town and Iro workshop" held at Shibuya 100 BANCH from 10 to 16 o'clock>>詳細
The color of the signal is red, blue and yellow, the gray of the wall, the brown of the building, the black of the winter coat, the yellow of the Tutaya signboard, the green of the cone, the green which was in the road ... ... the color is different according to the city, Varies. At the same time, through color, I notice the difference between my viewpoint and others' viewpoint. You should also notice that there is the same viewpoint. Because it is a healthy person, there is no difference because it is a disabled person. We discover various perspectives that we did not notice in everyday life. I hope that this event will be a big initiator to sublimate from product brand to project.

Please tell us your future activities including activities other than _100 BANCH.
I would like to create a new culture in the future. For example, there is the word "art brut". It is interpreted as "raw art" in French, and "art created by disabled people" in Japan. For example, as music has been categorized and evolved into culture, I think that catchyness of the word "Earl Brut" is very effective in creating a new market. I would like to promote with the intention of making a product, making an event, making a place, not transient, nothing but a culture.

* Earl Brut is the word devised by the French painter Jean Dubuffet (Jean Dubuffet 1901-1985). It means a piece of work expressed as an impulse rising from inside of himself without being influenced by works of raw (uncleaved) work, tradition and fashion, education, etc. In English it is called "outsider art", and it is evaluated as a work of art created by a context not related to existing art and culture trends.

In addition to activities to connect welfare and society, the other day, we held a memorable clothing festival "instant GALA Shibuya WWW X" on April 22. In a music event that made the participant's dress code "clothes for memories" with a message saying "Let's wear a storyful clothes, dress a story to clothes, let's stop consumption without love". By expressing love and love to clothes, we disseminated the way of social good fashion. Thanks to you, we participated in a lot of people on the day that day, and it got great excitement.

_ In the future, if there is a call to ask anyone to cooperate and participate

In addition, we categorize the arts we deal with as 'works drawn by intellectually disabled artists'. I dare use words that feel the smell of the welfare color / charity color called "intellectual disability" as a catchy advertisement. Although it may be caught as "bullish" and "serious", if you use "dare", I hope to think about how to edit, including such things with 100 BANCH.

_ Through the activities at the end, if Mr. Matsuda himself has words to remember
The poem "The possibility of dialogue" of Mr. Seiichi Washida, Director of Sendai Mediatheque, who was recently taught by members who joined MUKU is the best.

(Excerpted below)
<Dialogue> is tried trying to understand each other among those who do not have such a common footing. At that time, assuming that you can understand, the place where you can stay together is closed when you finish understanding. However, if it is assumed that it is natural to understand, the place where "together can be found" will be opened a little more. Dialogue is not the same idea as others, not tried to be the same feeling. In other words, the more I talk about it, the more I will understand the difference between other people and me more delicately, that is the dialogue. Starting from the embarrassment or pain "I do not understand" "Not transmitted", it is to open up to the mysterious thing.

I think that the sense of justice of a person who enjoys "enlightenment" with 100% thought is still scary. I like and hate suddenly reverses one day and there are days when I think of it as good and lie. Since I came across the poem "the possibility of dialogue" and became a premise that people can not comprehend 100%, I feel that I have become able to see society in a bird's-eye view.

<News report>
Based on experience with family members cultivated in the Tohoku area, MUKU's project, which will be the twin brothers representative and deputy representative, will have a gentle and calm feeling here. I would like you to continue to emit such unique perspectives from many areas including Shibuya.
