More fun Shibuya! People who work, learn people, play information site for people

The city of Shibuya is finally here! Remind the opening schedule

Beginning with the opening of Shibuya Hikarie in 2012, redevelopment work around Shibuya Station is progressing until 2027, but this fall ahead of the Olympics the next year will be a major milestone in Shibuya redevelopment. In November, Shibuya SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE Phase I (East Building), a new landmark just above Shibuya Station, and Shibuya Fuclas were born on the site of the former Tokyu Plaza. In addition to the area around the station, the new Shibuya PARCO is refraining from opening on Koen-dori Street.

In other words, it can be said to be the largest mountain ground for Shibuya redevelopment, which is said to be "once every 100 years." Let's check the opening date of each facility again for the “New Shibuya Town”.

| 1.10 / 13 (Sunday) opening, “LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Public Hall)”

Shibuya Public Hall, which was called “Shibuco” and has been popular as a concert venue for rock bands, was originally built as a venue for weightlifting competitions in the Tokyo Olympics. In 1965 after the Olympics, the Shibuya Ward Office moved from Jinnan 1-chome (the place where the former Electric Power Museum was located) to the same place, and the Shibuya Public Hall was renovated to a concert hall. Half a century after construction, the aging office and Shibuko were closed in October 2015, and the building was rebuilt. In January this year, the new government office started its opening soon, and on the 13th of this month, the “new public hall” will reopen as a next-generation hall that incorporates the latest technology.

The building is 31.9 meters high and consists of the first floor of the 6th floor, 2nd floor, and tower building. The number of seats is 1,956 (including 1180 seats on the 1st floor, 424 seats on the 2nd floor, 352 seats on the 3rd floor, and 126 orchestra pit seats). The “Shibuya Public Hall Project Team”, consisting of LINE and Pacific Art Center, will be operated and managed by theaters and halls. In addition, LINE has been decided as a naming rights partner, and the facility is called “LINE CUBE SHIBUYA”.

On the opening day of the 13th (Sunday), “LINE CUBE SHIBUYA opening commemorative event titled“ YOU MAKE SHIBUCUL ”that connects diverse cultures to the future, Princess Yoshimura (violin), Shibuya City Choral Federation (chorus), Shibuya Performing, singing, dancing, etc. are performed by the Ward Cultural Organization Federation (calligraphy, folk song, sword poetry dance, folk dance dance, Japanese dance, Western dance), etc. Starting from 14:30, admission is free (first 1400 people) .

The techno-pop unit “Perfume” will be performed from 16th to 27th after that.

| 2.11 / 1 (Friday) opening, SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE Phase I (East Building)

Among the redevelopment of Shibuya Station, the most iconic building is SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE Phase I (East Building), a 47-story large complex. The SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE Phase II (Central Building / West Building) will also be completed by 2027, but it is the highest height in the Shibuya area due to the low rise of the Central Building (about 61 meters) and West Building (about 76 meters). The eastern wing (about 230 meters), which boasts the inevitably attracts attention.

Located on the basement floor to the 14th floor of the same building that is directly connected to and directly above the station is a “commercial area” with 212 shops and restaurants, including fashion brands, merchandise sales, and restaurants. Furthermore, the 15th floor is an industrial exchange facility "SHIBUYA QWS" where universities and companies in Tokyo collaborate. The 17th to 45th floors are "offices" where 9 companies such as Cyber Agent and Mixi are occupying the 14th and 45th floors. On the rooftop, there is an observation facility “SHIBUYA SKY”, which has a well-balanced mix of “work, play, learn and live”.

Of particular note is the food section “TOKYU Foodshow EDGE” on the 2nd and 1st floors of the ground, and the ecute EDITION commercial facility operated by JR East Retail Net, the first landing in Japan. Popular food shops that sell directly to the station, such as bakery and sweets by Chef Muchelin, pastries and Kinokuniya, are very convenient for consumers who use the station every day.In addition, the Shibuya scramble intersection is high for inbound customers. The observation facility “Shibuya Sky”, which can be looked down from about 230 meters, should not be overlooked. The creative group “Rhizomatiks” will be directing the production, and it will be a facility that has a different taste and taste from the conventional observation facility.

| 3.11 / 22 (Friday) opening, Shibuya Parco

Opening on Good Couple's Day is Shibuya Park Shinseibuya PARCO. Part 1 opened in 1973, Part 2 in 1975, and Part 3 in 1981. Since then, it has played a major role as an information dissemination center leading the youth culture, such as up-and-coming fashion, avant-garde art, movies and theater, for over 40 years. Three years have passed since it closed in 2016, and finally the revival of smoke will be raised this fall.

The complex commercial facility, about 110 meters high and 20 stories high, consists of “fashion,” “art and culture,” “entertainment,” “food,” and “technology”. In addition to the 1st and 2nd floors where luxury brands are gathered, the self-editing sales floor “GEYSER PARCO” (3rd floor) for next-generation fashion designers and brands, “PORT PARCO” (4th floor) that focuses on brand development, etc. Expand with. In “Art & Culture”, “PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO” (4th floor) has been revived, and “GALLERY X” has moved from Shibuya Spainzaka, where the space is currently located, to the first basement level. “OIL by Art Handbook” (2nd floor), which is handled by the art magazine “Art Handbook”, Tokyo Culture Information Center “Almost Nikkan Culture” (4th floor), “Almost Sunday” (8th floor) and other PARCO-style gallery-type shops that lead culture are conspicuous. In addition, as a dispatch zone for “Japan Culture”, a base for cyber subculture such as “Nintendo TOKYO” and “Pokemon Center Shibuya”, Nintendo's first directly-operated official shops in Japan, is born on the 6th floor. In addition, cultural facilities such as the mini-theater “CINE QUINTO” (8th floor) and “PARCO theater” (7th to 9th floors), including the revival of existing facilities, will be enhanced.

The new genre to be added this time is “food”. The restaurant floor “CHAOS KITCHEN” that opens on the first basement floor has 21 stores such as udon noodles, gibier / insect dishes, pure café, and mix bar based on the concept of “food, music and culture”. On the 7th floor you can find Japanese foods that are inbound-conscious, such as Rotating Sushi, Tempura, and Ramen. Until now, there is no image of “Parco = Gourmet”, and it is attracting attention whether eating and drinking can be a primate to increase the number of visitors.

| 4. Opening on 12/5 (Thu), Shibuya Fuclas, Tokyu Plaza

Following the opening of Shibuya Hikarie in 2012 and SHIBUYA STREAM in 2018, the opening of SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE East Building was refrained from opening this fall, and the flow of people at Shibuya Station East Exit has changed significantly compared to several years ago. On the other hand, “Shibuya Fuclas”, a complex commercial facility that is born on the site of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya, is expected to be the “west entrance”.

The high-rise part of the complex, which is approximately 103m high and has 18 stories above ground, is a high-grade office where the GMO group is located, the middle and low-rise parts include the commercial floor of Tokyu Plaza, and part of the first floor includes the airport limousine bus stop In addition to a bus terminal, a tourism support facility “shibuya-san” tourist information & art center for visitors from inside and outside the country will open. In Sibuyasan, foreigners stay as tourist concierges and provide tourist information for foreign tourists. The company will open until 23:00, and will play a role in boosting the nighttime economy.

Of particular concern within the building is the resurgence of Tokyu Plaza. As new commercial facilities are born one after another, it will be one of the old and familiar commercial facilities for the senior generation. Although the image of “Shibuya = Youth Town” is strong, the main target of the facility is the 40s-60s. The “mature adult” who has moved away from Shibuya each time she ages, expresses her desire to return to Shibuya.

Tenants have a floor with the keywords “food”, “health”, “beauty”, “hobby”, and “life plan”. On the 6th and 7th floors of the restaurant, “Unagi Shibuya Matsukawa” (6th floor), which had opened in the former Tokyu Plaza, will be restored, and there will also be restaurants that support the use of Harenohi. On the 4th floor of the “Beauty” and “Health” floors, there is a health solution salon and a shop that handles hearing aids. There are shops.

The top feature of Tokyu Plaza is the rooftop facility. In addition to the rooftop garden “SHIBU NIWA” overlooking the Shibuya scramble intersection on the 17th floor, the entertainment restaurant “CE LA VI” from Singapore opened on the 17th and 18th floors. It attracts attention as a social place for adults.

The construction site that has been surrounded by temporary enclosures will be opened at once. Because each facility is large in scale, it seems that it will take a considerable amount of time to see everything. Keep an eye on the city of Shibuya this fall / winter.
