More fun Shibuya! People who work, learn people, play information site for people

New meeting spots are born in Shibuya "Digital Hachiko" "Love Bench"

Speaking of meeting spots in Shibuya, first of all, there are many people who think of the “Tadamu Hachiko statue” in front of JR Shibuya Station. However, many people are busy even on weekdays, so even if you meet here, you can't meet that easily. There must be a lot of people who have contacted with smartphones, “Where are you?” In front of Hachiko.

If you're a little bit familiar, you'll be in the Tokyu 5000 series "Aogaeru", not in front of Hachiko, "Moyai statue" at the south exit of Shibuya station, "2F outdoor resting place" up the stairs outside SHIBUYA109, under the escalator in SHIBUYA MARKCITY, Okamoto Before Taro's “Tomorrow's Myth” ... etc., he must be waiting for a spot that is a little crowded.

This time, I would like to introduce two new meeting spots that I would like to add to the existing spots.

▲ “Tokyu Plaza Shibuya” opened in Shibuya Fuclas

The first is “GMO Digital Hachiko”, which opened on the 2nd floor of “Tokyu Plaza Shibuya”, a commercial facility in Shibuya Fclass opened on December 5.
▲ GMO Digital Hachiko

As you can see from its naming, it is a digital version of "Hachiko", the symbol of Shibuya. This is called a holographic display. A fan with LEDs is rotated at a high speed, and a realistic 3D image emerges due to the rotation afterimage effect.

If you increase the shutter speed of the camera and shoot, you can see that the fan is rotating as in the photo above.

A dedicated terminal is installed on the right side of Digital Hachiko. Flags from seven countries around the world are displayed on the touch panel display. If one of them is selected, the costumes of the digital Hachiko and the surrounding scenery will change, making it feel like you're traveling with 7 bees in 7 countries around the world.

▲ A huge display on the back, left and right sides of Hachiko, and a chair in the center.

In addition to the iconic digital Hachiko, you can enjoy various video contents in the same space. The wall behind the Hachiko is a huge high-definition display (220 inches, width 4.854 meters x height 2.732 meters). This display always offers panoramic video of beautiful nature from all over Japan. The original content, etc., which was made into a video, is being screened.

The digital Hachiko is operated by GMO Internet, which has offices on the 8th to 16th floors of Shibuya Fuclas. The company, which was founded and grown in Shibuya, is said to have created a “meeting place” that will become Shibuya's new landmark as a company that loves Shibuya. Certainly, until now there was no such spot in the West Exit area of Shibuya Station, so it is convenient for meeting and taking a short break. There are free Wi-Fi and sofas that can be charged for free, so you can enjoy them. Also, unlike outdoor spots, it is nice to be able to meet comfortably even in rainy weather.

▲ Naked is responsible for producing the time signal.

If possible, it is recommended that the meeting time be set at 00 or 30 minutes per hour. At 00 or 30 minutes per hour, a new form of “Karakuri Clock”, a digital show that combines the symbolic city, culture, and information of Shibuya into chaos. The video content is produced by Naked, and the video changes in the Shibuya weather and time of the day.

Another new spot is a newly installed bench on the promenade along the Shibuya River. This bench, named “INFINITY LOVE BENCH”, was developed by the Shibuya City Tourism Association as part of the development of a new tourist spot, based on the “Love Love Bench” in Kochi Prefecture. The “Lovely Bench” installed at Anwa Station on the Tosa Line in Kochi Prefecture has a V-shaped center part of the seat that sits down. The uniqueness of its structure has gained support through SNS and is now a popular tourist spot visited by many people.

In Shibuya, just like Kochi, “I want to make a bench that can be a tourist spot”, Shibuya City Tourism Association asked singer Kamura Kimura, this time only one love bench “INFINITY in the world” LOVE BENCH "was produced. The installation place is from the SHIBUYA STREAM along the Shibuya River, along the promenade towards Ebisu / Daikanyama, and on a small path full of green between the Shibuya Bridge beyond the Namiki Bridge intersection.

There are three major features of this bench. The first is that the seating surface is V-shaped, just like a love bench in Kochi Prefecture, so that when two people sit down, they can snuggle up naturally. The second is that the back of the chair is equipped with a USB that can charge the mobile phone and can be charged with sunlight, so it can be charged in the event of a disaster or emergency. Lastly, Mr. Kaela himself did everything from chair design to color painting by hand. The name “INFINTY LOVE BENCH” was named by Kaela, and said that “Love is eternal and infinite power”.

▲ The promenade along the Shibuya River that continues from the SHIBUYA STREAM, Shibuya Bridge in front. The number of the viaduct that the Toyoko Line ran was given a number, but when looking for a bench, use around column number 67 as a guide.

It's a perfect spot for a date meeting. Although it is a little away from Shibuya Station, it is not crowded, and it doesn't get stuck in waiting. Even if you go for a walk while walking to Ebisu and Daikanyama, it seems to be a good new spot.
